Dimensional Weight for Packages
What is Dimensional Weight?
All international carriers base their shipping rates on the greater of actual weight or dimensional weight.
Actual weight is the weight of the package when we put it on our scales.
Dimensional weight is based on the size of the package. Since international packages are going by air the amount of space a package takes up is important for carriers to calculate.
Dimensional weight is calculated by using the formula: (length X width X height) /166 (dimensional weight factor) for all carriers.
How to Save?
When you order from U.S. ecommerce stores and have things shipped to your locker they typically are shipped by ground service in the U.S. where dimensional weights are not used. This means there is often lots of excess packaging compared to the actual weight of the item. You can save on your international shipping by having Stackry consolidate multiple packages into one box or if you are only shipping one item we can often re-package your item into a smaller box. Consolidation only costs $2 a package and repacking costs $5 a package. These options will pay for themselves in reduced international shipping fees.
